Aalto is the partner responsible for coordination of the project and includes 2 different units: the Helsinki Institute for Information Technology HIIT, the Department of Electrical Engineering . The Helsinki Institute for Information Technology HIIT is a joint research institute of the two leading research universities in Finland, the University of Helsinki and the Aalto University. Interactive Institute, Energy Design Studio
Interactive Institute in Sweden conducts world leading applied IT research that emphasizes interactivity, design and artistic viewpoints. Since the start in 1998, not only traditional academic research but also exploring borders between art, design, technology, and innovation have characterized the work. The Interactive Institute originated from an initiative from the state-owned Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research. The institute is now owned by The Swedish Institute of Computer Science (SICS group) and are part of Swedish ICT Research. University of Padova, Department of General Psychology (UNIPD)
UNIPD participates to BeAware through the Department of General Psychology and more specifically through the Human Technology Laboratories (HTLab), directed by Professor Luciano Gamberini. The University of Padova is the second oldest University in the World, and the Department of General Psychology dates back to 1919 with the name of ‘Institute of Psychology’. Public and private institutes such as CIVR and CENSIS usually rank the Department and the Faculty of Psychology at the top national levels, and the University of Padua is ranked 1st since 2000. BaseN Corporation
BaseN is a Finnish-based international measurement service provider which is providing large-scale infrastructure measurement and management services. Founded in 2001 by its current CEO Pasi Hurri and other leading Finnish internet pioneers, it grew rapidly both in the domestic and international market. Presently BaseN has its headquarters in Espoo, Finland, and offices in Atlanta, GA, and Amsterdam. BaseN provides linearly scalable measurement solutions based on grid computing. Vattenfall Research and Development AB (VRD) is the research and development company within the Vattenfall Group. The organization of VRD is divided into four different R&D areas: Generation, Heat & Thermal Processes, Distribution & Communication and Business Environment & Future Systems.
